Terms of Service
BoardGameEdge is a small suite of free board-game tools run by one person. These terms are the agreement between you and the operator when you use them. They are meant to be read, so they are short.
The short version
The tools are free and provided as they are. Don't abuse them, don't try to break into other people's accounts, and understand that a one-person project can change or go away. Your game data is yours.
Who you are agreeing with
BoardGameEdge is operated by an individual, not a company. Contact: admin@boardgameedge.com.
Your account
- Register with an email address you actually control — it is how you verify the account, reset your password, and how you would be contacted about a problem.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One account per person. Accounts are not transferable.
- Some apps are gated behind an access grant or an access code. Don't share access codes you were given privately.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- attempt to access another person's account or data;
- probe, scan, or attack the service, or work around access gating or rate limits;
- scrape or bulk-download the service, or resell access to it;
- upload or forward anything unlawful, or anything you don't have the right to send;
- use the service in a way that degrades it for other people.
Your content and your data
Game results, notes and anything else you put into the apps remain yours. You grant the operator only the permission needed to run the service: to store that content, process it to give you the features, and back it up. Nothing is published, sold, or used to train anything.
Apps that record play history let you export it. If you want your account and its data deleted, ask at admin@boardgameedge.com — see the Privacy Policy.
Forwarded email
Some features work by letting you forward email to a BoardGameEdge address. Forward only messages you have the right to forward, and only what you're comfortable having stored. What is stored, and for how long, is described in the Privacy Policy.
Donations
Donations through Ko-fi are voluntary gifts, not purchases. They do not buy features, access, support, or any other entitlement, and nothing on the platform is withheld from people who don't donate. Payments are handled entirely by Ko-fi and its payment processor; refunds are a matter for them.
Not affiliated with the game publishers
These are unofficial fan-made tools. BoardGameEdge is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the publishers or rights-holders of any board game the tools support. All game names, trademarks and artwork belong to their respective owners, and the tools are no substitute for owning the game.
Availability, and the fact that this is one person's project
The service is free and provided as is, with no warranty of any kind and no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or that it will keep existing. Apps may change or be discontinued. Rules assistance and automated opponents can be wrong — the printed rulebook wins, always.
Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service.
Ending things
You can stop using the service at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. Access may be suspended or removed for a breach of these terms — in practice, for the abuse listed above.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting the updated terms.
